Last few days the 1OPS03 Chatham-Kent talkgroup on FleetNet hasn't been used. Not hearing Delta units anymore either.

Seems the C-K units are now operating as 6 Papa 4xx units. And are on 1OPS04 Elgin and 1OPS05 Essex.

Wonder what the reason is for ditching the Delta call signs and that talkgroup?

Remember with the closure of Smith Falls, lots of east end talkgroups got moved to Orilla - and a few GTA HSD, if not all, got moved to London. Perhaps it’s just staffing changes.

Could be the same reason that 5E units were migrated to 5I instead

Sub-detachments seem to be moving to their host detachment’s callsign.

The Delta units here were all highway. Chatham-Kent Police do everything else and OPP just does the 401, and a couple of the King's highways tha'ts it. So, there has to be some logical reason for them joining up with Elgin County. Just wish they got to keep their Delta call signs. Didn't have zones either was just 6 Delta 0xx. Now they are all 6 Papa 4xx

Could this be a shift in the deployment of officers?
We all know all police services are working short staffed. Maybe with the Chatham-Kent OPP’s officer just maintaining the 401 and the few other provincial highways now report to the Elgin command staff. I would imagine the Chatham-Kent OPP compliment of officers is small due to their coverage. The OPP may have done some minor tweaking to how they patrol the area now.

Essex OPP covers a wide area. They have to patrol the remote island of Pelee Island plus the City of Leamington (same size as Chatham) and a bunch of small towns. Thin in all they have 6 zones for Essex County.

I'm sure it has to do with future plans and what not. It's just strange they stripped them of their Delta call signs and lumped them in with Elgin. One thing is to not use their talkgroup, but to change call signs.

But soon enough it won't matter anyways once they go to the new system.

Wonder if any other patrol zones across FleetNet have downsized per se and folded into another zone? With the exception of Smith Falls PCC closing and their groups getting sorted out.
