Does anybody have a clue what Area 1OPS46 covers. I'm hearing them occasionally and it's not labeled on the database.

Thanks
Greg

What id's have you heard?

Pay attention to road names, highways, towns/villages/cities mentioned etc.

They could be just using it as a spare also for a brief time.

On the King City tower, there is only one radio affiliated to 1OPS46, which is RID 8349. It's been primarily seen on the Niagara and Burlington talkgroup. Weird.

Yesterday when I was listening it appeared to be the supergroup!
Is it possible its the dispatcher who normally does Burlington Niagara?

I remember posting something about this patch in August.

It seems to be always patched with the Aurora talkgroup. I don't think it was for the Lima units or the Bravo units.

I'll pay closer attenntion and see what I hear on it.

I've heard 5 bravo and 5 whiskey units

Whiskey units will pop up on pretty much all of the GTA area talkgroups. If a Whiskey unit is in Toronto or Durham region you'll hear them on OPS 42 and whatever Whitby 5 Kilo is. And if they are in Niagara or Burlington's area you'll hear them on the patches.

I doubt very much that Whiskey units will ever have their own TG.

The BRAVO units you heard are Aurora, they police all the provincial highways in York Region up to IBR (Innisfill Beach Road),

What would be interesting to see if maybe their is a specific detachment using OPS 46: maybe all 407 5Lima units are going there, or maybe some of the Bravo units will park there.

If we are lucky maybe we will hear cars being asked to switch over to OPS 46. And maybe we will hear a specific zone log on to it as well, there is a unit specifically for an island that houses a Indian reserve with a Soft ID of. 7xx,

We'll see I guess.

And what was the voice traffic you heard? Aurora 407 coms?

Raven 1, the OPP aircraft was doing surveillance for speeders. This took place in and around Uxbridge, Aurora.

Clocked someone doing 162, and we're looking for some MC's.

Patched OPS38 and OPS 46, just like they did earlier in the year.

I wasn't running T88 or uni(blech)trunker and the aircraft displayed a RID of 11097, same as the dispatchers for this patch.

I have a friend who is a ATC, he generally covers low or hi east of the GTA. I'll see if he would know where the plane is based (pretty sure it's Buttonville) and how often they go in the air.

I know sometimes I can hear aurora through SIM 11. And due to the planes altitude, trunked radio systems would probably be a no go due to greater reaching coverage so I think they use SIM 11.

I would be interested to see if 1OPS46 is slaved to SIM11 when it's in use.

Just as I thought, SIM11 is used by the Ravens, but it still doesn't explain the use of 1OPS46. My rationale is that it might be to spread out users between more than one TG, not unlike Port Credit/Cambridge.

The plane does not use SIM 11 for traffic intercepts. Every Comm Centre in the province would probably hear it and it would get annoying after a while.

The Comm Centre assigns a TAC channel and one of the cars involved turns on its repeater. The plane uses a radio on the repeater channel.

You can listen on the input to the VR (usually VR03) and hear the plane. Handy for knowing when you're approaching the area the plane is working.
