it would be nice if the alert light stayed on a little longer.

I think this is one of the fixes coming in the next update if I'm remember right reading her from Upman

I don't think so but I agree it would be nice. So would a digital audio AGC that actually works.

UPMAN's post on the update.

Improved Long squelch tail problem
Fixed backlight set to squelch problem.
Fixed "Conventional discovery hangs on a P25 control channel even with time-out timer set."
Fixed "Scanner Hangs with no audio in mobile install after start with some vehicles."
Fixed DAT icon problem.

it would be nice if the alert light stayed on a little longer.

I think its great UPMan posted to let us know what firmware fixes are coming. These are probably the easiest to fix. If only he would acknowledge the other issues we see - poor decoding, digital AGC, having to override Auto/NFM with FM (for those who get that to work), missed transmissions, beginning of transmissions being cutoff. Just my short list of concerns.

Scanner Issues

I agree it is nice to post what they are working on. Since Paul says his beta team did a great job I have to assume they caught all these issues and Uniden decided to go ahead and start production anyhow. Now all they have to do is solve them. Hopefully they can and they can rel;ease Analyze mode too with the next update.

I guess I got lucky. Outside of the white specks inside the front display window (I'll get around to cleaning it one of these days) I haven't had any of the problems folks have reported. My scanner has been working flawlessly from day one. A huge, vast, amazing improvement over my BC796D. I'm very happy with this purchase and can't wait to see what new goodies are coming next month - hopefully a firmware update to add new features and activate the ones that weren't ready for "prime time" when the scanner was released.

Another very satisfied 436 owner here, as well. My 436 is rock solid monitoring my local P25 simulcast system, performs flawlessly on other digital and analog systems and has great audio...digital and analog. I don't know what to think about some of these alleged problems with the x36 scanners.

Well I'm not so sure they are alleged problems. If that's the case why did UPMan post a sticky on P25 decoding testing AND said they have tentatively acknowledged it.

My own 436 has no audio problem other than a long squelch tail that can be annoying and reminds me of some radios I owned a few years ago,.
