Vertex Radio

The tone board is for alerting you of something important like being a member of a fire dept/ems etc. I have a Motorola HT1250 which has the tones set up when we get dispatched it will make a beeping noise. Thats all it's for. If you're not a member for something like that then don't worry about it. You may want to sell it on e-Bay?? Hope that I answered your question, Joe.....

It all depends on the type of system using the tones. If you're on the receiving end (radio in hand) then it will just give off a beep(s) of some sort. The 2/5 tone is sent over the air by someone other than you (your radio) & has a set tones (could be any) & when the radio hears it in that order it opens up. Ours is 2575/1130 when the radio hears it on a specific channel it will beep a few times. Joe.....

In simple terms, it is for making your radio act like a 2-Tone fire pager. It DECODES the 2-Tone page and makes the radio beep and open the audio. It would otherwise stay silent, just like a fire pager. It is programmable by channel in the radio. It has nothing to do with generating sounds.

What I don't get is why someone who supposably was only going to be using and getting scanners would go and get another radio. What are you trying to do find a radio that you can illegally transmit on? With all the stunts you've pulled on this board and other places, it's amazing that we aren't reading about your actions in the Record Journal or some other media form. and where are you a security guard at because I for one will avoid that place for sure as I would not feel secure seeing your immature actions here. I think you'd be more of a liabilty than an asset. You want to play with radios, go find a job dispatching cabs or oil trucks.

2/5 tone is a popular format for Eurpoean radios. It may be Select V. Either way, still makes no sense for you to buy another radio to trade for a scanner. How about just buying the scanner?

So, make it simple.

Sell all your radios.

Use that money and buy a scanner.

If not enough $$ in radio sales, put that cash, and extra cash each week into a coffee cup and then when you have enough.... buy the scanner.

Not rocket science.

If you would stop making excuses about having the stuff, then I don't think there would be such a backlash. You are your own enemy here.

i was also wondering...why Don't they make a Wide Band scanner like the R20 from Icom or the R10 with a trunking option?

I'm not going to jump in with opinions and/or accusations. All I'm going to say is maybe, just maybe the person read prior posts? It's not that hard.
