855.2125 Mhz is one of 7 assigned frequencies WPDB840. For some reason, there are some additional freq showing on this database that are not in the system.

Lagrange control channels are 860.9875, 860.2625, 858.9625, or 858.2625. Most of the trunked traffic appears on one of these four. 857.7375 and 856.2625 are primarily I-Call while 855.2125 is a frequency of last resort. If everything else is used, 855.2125 will be used. Typically 855.2125 is used for the morse code - station I.D.

Tonight, I'm getting a very strong control channel on 855.2125. My scanner locked onto it. After not hearing any traffic, I locked it out, "grabbed" the normal control channel and all is OK.

Bibb Co and Albany (both Georgia) are the only other systems in this area that use 855.2125. I'm 90+ miles from Bibb and 120+ from Albany.

What could this be????

Thanks,
Julian

Did you happen to get the sysid of then system? That might give a clue to who it was. BTW That freq is not used as a control channel down here in Albany, only voice.

Lagrange "extra" control channel 855.2125

The Lagrange system has added a second tower near West Point GA.

That is the source of the control channel.

Looks like the early stages of the unified system w/ Harris Co and Muscogee Co - Columbus TRS.

Thanks,
Julian

Does anyone have the SysID for this second control channel? From time to time I have picked up a control channel of 855.2125 having a SysID of bc26C2. Just wondering if this may be the match. It also shows 857.7375 as an alternate.

Thanks for any info.

Rod, looks like you have the right system, here is what I found using various trunking programs:

System ID: BC26 [Site: 02]
Type: Type II Networked (Wide, Analog, Astro)
Connect Tone: 138.46
Current Control Channel: 855.2125
Alternate Control Channel: 857.7375

Thanks Mike,

Yup, that's the same system, tone of 138.46. Now I can update my files. (can't wait for the next band opening from the Southwest :) )

I was able to confirm this system with trunker in the West Point/Lanett area today. System bc26, cell 2 of a SmartZone system. No adjacent cells were referenced on the control channel.

So if indeed it's an expansion of the Harris Co./Columbus system with LaGrange, some systems will have to change their SysID sometime in the future.

In the 30 minutes or so that I monitored the system, there was no subscriber activities, not even affiliations.

The PRO-96 does a very good job of monitoing a multzone system. Just add the additonal control channels to your current bank.

I monitor the new SCANA 800 system for the whole State of Carolina with a bank of 50 control channels in the PRO-96. I close the bank and fill it up with suitable TGIDs. I have four banks exactly the same except for different TG because it is such a large system with many TG choices. The PRO-96 scans like a champ. The BCD996T has new Uniden features that will allow for effiicent montioring of a SMARTZONE SYSTEM.
