2 DPS questions...

2 DPS questions that have been bothering me awhile now...

I hear (often enough) 2 units identify themselves as "Paul 5-0-X" using 3 number identifiers. Does anyone know what division "PAUL" is? I never hear them calling 10-38s, just 10-41/42. Heard off the New Braunfels Repeater.

Also, this morning I heard a "5-2-9" call SA KKI413 off the New B repeater. I wondered if I heard that right (and maybe the dispatcher did too) but when the dispatcher asked unit to identify he said "5-2-9 how do you read this unit?" Dispatcher replied "10-2 unit 529." Was this maybe a radio tech?

To me it seems weird that I RARELY hear 3 number unit identifiers and the only ones I've heard lately are 5XXs.

Anyone know the callsign identifiers of the various CLE divisions?

Those are fleet ops call signs.

Can you be more specific otter? Fleet Ops as in the people in charge of the motor vehicle fleet? Any idea why I would hear the same two over and over and wouldn't be hearing randonm units?

Or is this the new DPS Naval Fleet...=)?

The question remains: does anyone have a list (or can they create one) of the different CLE, or just Civvy divisions, callsign identifiers?

Yes, fleet does refer to the vehicle guys. I don't know what they are up to. They might be working a special project (vehicle swap, PM, equip swap or upgrade, etc).

You sure you weren't hearing Vernon or Benjamin? Throckmorton belongs to Wichita Falls.

Your right, I have it mislabled in my scanner. I think from the map, it's a straight shot due south from my position to Benjamin. They were talking to Childress so I'm sure your right.
