I noticed for my area feeds, you guys have etk1200 who brodcast a feed of system 6-7 for sbso. Recently there was another person, who started a new feed who is brodcasting yucaipa \ surrounding areas, it is the same as etk1200's. Why do we allow that.... This is probably a question for admin.. thanks..
I was the admin that approved the Yucaipa feed.
As Kendirk said, we try very hard to not approve exact duplicate feeds.
If there is a difference in agencies, cities, counties etc, a feed while close, may be approved. We look at the feed description and the feed info page at the time of the new feed application.
Once approved, a new feed owner may add or remove agencies from their feed info page at will & we do not know about it. So a case of close but not exact may wind up being exactly the same. They may also later request a feed change with different info & we may not catch it although we do try to look at the other feeds in the county first.
This is where, each feed owner needs to have all the scanned agencies in the feed info page. We do include many of the agencies in the feed description, but this can only be done to a point.
The two feeds were different enough so it was approved.
I have denied many a new feed owner's for wanting to exact dupe an existing feed.
