Got a question for ya'll. I traded in my Tacoma 2011 in on a new Rav 4. In the manual for the Rav 4 it says before you use or install a 2 way radio in the vehicle call the dealer. I did and he said long as it is not high power it should be ok. I had planned to go with an HT and run maybe 5-8 watts to a small antenna on the roof. I have a kenwood V71A and a 5/8 wave mobile antenna that will be near the back of the Rav 4 that I was using in the tacoma. It runs either 5, 10 or 50 watts.
Anyone with about the same issue out there.

Friend of mine installed a Yaesu FTM-350R mobile in his RAV4 and I assume he runs it on full power. To my knowledge, he hasn't had any problems with the installation.

Thanks CPO. I had a S-10 many, many years ago that had a slight studder when i used 12 watts SSB on a corba 148. It (the radio) was not modified. strictly street legal. Do not what to mess with a brand new vehicles computers. Will go with the HT first with a small mag antenna then if not problems, go with the V71A and the 5/8 wave Diamond super gainer.

I have also seen where higher power radios, above 50 watts cause some problems with the distributor-less ignition systems, tire pressure monitoring (Bluetooth) and other RF systems in cars.

Also why it is good to keep antennas on the rear of the vehicle instead of fender mounts if possible.
