2 meter during weather events

We were getting some predictions in the Richmond area of snow for 1/1/2013 an 1/2/2013. I was planning on monitoring local 2 meter repeaters and to see if there was some traffic pertaining to the weather. Bu drat, the forecasts are bust now.

Skywarn really only activates for severe WX so if it's just light snow, you won't hear much. If it gets real bad though, sure they'll come on the air.

I'm fairly certain skywarn would be called on either 145.43 or 146.88. I was just checking the Skywarn page for Wakefield www.wx4akq.org but it's not up right now. That would be where you'd find established primary and backup repeaters in AKQ's forecast area.

Their site's back up now. Yes, 146.88 is primary and 145.43 is backup.
