The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a crash on Interstate 75 northbound, just north of Fowler Avenue.
Troopers arrived on scene of the accident that involved two semi tractor trailers and two passenger vehicles early Friday afternoon. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's office, one of the tractor trailers hit a concrete barrier wall in a construction zone. It then traveled into the median before erupting in flames and becoming completely engulfed. The driver of the semi was killed in the accident. All northbound lanes of I-75 are currently closed. Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes for their afternoon commute to include US-41 or US-301. HCSO is currently on its way to the scene.
