Some additional information for those that haven't had the opportunity to find detailed information regarding this specific project. It was mentioned in November last year that Douglas County filed a license WQSZ270 for six 700 MHz frequencies for a trunked radio system. Since then, it appears they have been doing a lot of administrative work and finalized the contract with Motorola for the "Southern Simulcast Cell" this June. The plans for the cell is to be at final acceptance by February 17, 2015. The southern cell will be a 3 site simulcast and will include the currently existing West Creek site as well as the construction of 2 other towers located in the Larkspur area.

I have not yet found any licensing information for the Northern Simulcast Cell, but they may just end up using the frequencies they currently have for existing Douglas County sites. I've only been able to locate a single lease agreement so far for the 2500 block of N Highway 67.

With all that accounted for, I have not been able to locate any information regarding the last site they plan on building or the last site they plan on leasing.

A little update to this project as I haven't had the chance to followup.

Douglas County appears to not be taking advantage of their WQSZ270 license for their Southern Cell (likely due to lack of 700 MHz radios). Instead, they are opting to stay on 800 MHz and have filled for a new license with existing frequencies belonging to Douglas County Schools and Adams 12 Five Star Schools (already licensed for the West Creek site). They will also be recycling frequencies that they, Jefferson, and the State already have licensed for West Creek & Silver Heights for a total of 10 channels (frequencies) on the Southern site.

Douglas County has had their Northern Simulcast site finalized for a little bit now as well. It will be a 4 site simulcast made up of the existing Silver Heights Site, Rocky Point (Highway 67), Hess Road (Rueter–Hess Reservoir), and Grigs Road (Daniels Park). This site has an acceptance date of May 11, 2015 and will operate with 12 channels. Additionally, it would appear that not all the current Silver Heights frequencies will be used on the Northern Simulcast (one will be moved to the Southern Simulcast). Instead it will be using a mixture of current and unused frequencies that the county and state already have licensed for Silver Heights.

They must have done something major, because I can get this site from my house in Broomfield (same cc, 853.9375), which I couldn't before. We all just got an early Christmas gift!

I'm sort of confused. Isn't 853.9375 the West Creek site and maybe now part of the south simulcast?

Is the north one really active?

I should have clarified my earlier statement: The site I'm now picking up at my house is the new South Simulcast with Site ID 014 on CC 853.9375.

I think the North site is active now.

Douglas County North Simulcast is not yet online, but I would imagine it will half online with 3 sites sometime soon.

The Highlands Ranch residents "won" their fight, so Douglas County will be spending an additional $2.7 million to add 2 sites to cover all of Highlands Ranch instead of just 1. Unrelated to this, Douglas County will also adding another site to increase coverage in the Highway 83 & Highway 86 area. This mean that when Douglas County North Simulcast will be a 6 site simulcast when it is complete.

As for poor old WQSZ270, it sounds like Douglas County has overcome their concerns of 700 MHz and will be adding these to their simulcast sometime in the future.

Silver Heights (1-003) was taken offline at 06:03 and Douglas County North Simulcast (1-052) was brought online at 06:15 today. Currently, Douglas County North Simulcast has only been partially implemented in Central Douglas County. It current identifies with WQVH307 and is also using WQVJ501 for its frequencies. Here are the site files for Douglas County North Simulcast and the last site file for Silver Heights for comparison.
