• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

If you're asking if you can scan channels that are in different zones in one scan list...yes.

If you're asking if the radio can scan two separate scan lists simultaneously...no.

The radio has a single receiver, and therefore can only receive one signal at a time, regardless of what "zone" it's programmed in. One scan list at a time.

So like if I had the zone selector on position (a) switch on the top of the radio and I had b and c programmed a for fire b for ems and c for pd can I have it scan ems and fire at the same time if that makes sense or will it only scan if it on that position

It will scan whatever scan list is assigned to the personality of the current channel.

It will only scan from one scanlist at a time. You can have channels from multiple zones in a scanlist but you can’t scan from multiple scan lists. You may have to create a new personality, a new zone and a new scanlist to accomplish this if you’re trying to have a multiple scanlisls with the same channels in it.

when you build your scan list you select zone/channel for each member of the scan list. You can put whatever you want in there.

As was already posted, you can put whatever you want in your scan lists.

I'm going to be "that guy". If this is trunking I'm going to assume you are not an authorized user on the system. If so you probably need to stop as it's obvious you don't know what you're doing and you can cause issues with users on the system (missed/wrong audio and delayed access when trying to talk).

I'm not trying to be the radio police, I just don't want you endangering the life of a first responder (or anyone actually).

Sell it and get an SDS100 or Unication G4. An APX is not a device you want to learn and make mistakes on. It can have real world consequences.
