Looks like RS used either aluminum or steel for the top cone where the whip attaches; guessing aluminum came later. That simpified that last rebuild because I found it easier to weld the whip to the steel cone eliminating a set screw and gaps for water. The aluminum cone will take Alumialloy and can be retapped if needed. Now I need a new magnet good for 100mph.
