20 amp noise filter, can I use it?

I found a Radio Shack 20 amp noise filter almost exactly like this one

I know I can use it somewhere, what would it do for a scanner?

Maybe use it with the CB I found in the same box of junk I forgot about. A Cobra 25LTD Classic but I am missing the power cable, where would I find one of those?

This is off subject but I also found a Micronta Road Patrol XK radar detector in that box. It came from rat shack with cat # 22-1615. It looks exactly like this http://ssl.linuxbeach.net/cgi-bin/LinuxBeach/22-1615.html?id=M6HK4mZ7 This is the only one I found in my search. Will it still be effective?

With all this new stuff I feel like it was Christmas day. I found all that plus a mag mount antenna. I guess I didn't find it because it wasn't lost just in storage.

You can use it on anything that is suffering from electrical noise from the vehicle.

It won't hurt to put it on anything.

You can get a power cord for the Cobra at almost any truck stop. They sell them with the Cobra plug on the end, and ready to go. Usualy under $5. Looks like this.... http://www.1stopelectronics.com/shop/index.php?shop=1&cat=69&cart=343470

It won't hurt to put it on anything.

But, if it's not broke, don't fix it.

If you don't have alternator whine, or any other electrincal noise, don't risk creating a problem. With a filter such as that, you are adding two more connections that can go bad and more components in the filter that can go bad. Why would you want to do that if you don't have a problem?
