After purchasing a 2000 Montero Sport I decided it was time to down size the amount of radios I placed in my mobile. I found that the Yaesu 8800 would do everything I needed. I can use the 8800 on the amateur bands as well as the fire and rescue frequencies that I operate on. Another thing about the 8800 that I liked was the Cross band repeat feature. The remote display came very handy in my Montero due to the small size and limited space in the cab. I played around with the placement on the display till I placed it in the cubby hole under the dash. This works best because I can see and reach the display vary easily. Mounted on the back of my center console is my Uniden Pro520XL. I placed the CB in the back of the console because I don’t have to see the display and much as I do the 8800. The also allowed me to hear and reach the CB easily yet keep the CB out of the way. I use a 102 inch whip mounted with a ball mount and spring on the driver side of my Montero. For the 8800 I currently use an MFJ High gain dual band antenna that’s mounted in the hood jam. (This changes from time to time when I get to playing around.) With all the off road lights and the Red lights I have I had a hard time finding a place to mount all the toggle switches. So I decided to mount the switched in the head liner console. Please check out the pictures and let me know what you think!

I like your insurance company sticker (the Glock sticker). Your vehicle looks darn good.
