This is my to and from work car saves me on gas compared to my F-150 with a V-8. 2001 Escape 4x4 with 207,000 miles bought from my brother for $500.

Radios are:

Yaesu 2900-R 2 Meter with a 5/8 wave NMO mount antenna

GRE PSR-800 HT with a unid 800MHz NMO mount antenna

In the future I plan on installing my 10 meter mobile and replacing the Yaesu 2900-R with my Yaesu 7800-R with remote head so I can add a RS Pro-197 or my GRE PER-600.

Nothing fancy here just wanted to share with all the radio geeks like myself.

75 watts on a 5/8 wave NMO with that ground plane should do wonders. Hopefully the roof rack doesn't affect it too much.

It will do about. The same as 50w. Into the same antenna... 50w->75w is only a 1.5db increase in power.

Nice install, antennas are the highlight. Nice to see holes rather than lip/trunk/glass/CRAP mounts for a change.

fully agree, sadly I had to fender mount my VHF 1/2wave for my LMR radio... Already have 2 cellular and a Larsen NMO2/70 on the roof.

+1 on using NMO mounts. People take us more seriously when they see these mounts used. Good job on the install.

Sometimes you can't use them and that's understandable. A few more pics of the antenna's. I had a 1/4 wave on first until I received the 5/8 wave. Since 90% of my 2 meter is used on simplex with my wife I decided to go with the 5/8 wave, so far so good. Thanks for the comments guys!! :)
