• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I need to know if anyone has any suggestions as to how to run the power and antenna for a 2 meter radio install. I have a sun roof and my back glass slides open. If I need to drill holes I will and I would also like this to be able to remove the radio without much problems as I will be using this as a base until I get something else.

Thanks in advance.

I've mounted antennas behind sunroof's before. There's usually enough clearance between the mount and the glass for the sunroof to retract with no problem. drill holes. Don't do mag mounts, etc. You wouldn't believe the performance difference between the two. Appearance is also another thing that's important!

My suggestion is to mount your antenna, run your feed line, and your power from the battery to the place where your going to want your radio. Don't tap into any other electrical sources. Run straight to the battery with a circuit breaker in line. Ground to the chassis with a fusible link to the negative end of the battery. This way, if you ever have any type of electrical drain, you'll be able to rule out the possibility of it being any of the thing's you've installed. It also makes it easier for Ford if it's ever got to go back to the dealer. Those are the biggest things. Figure those out and then once you've got that figured out, then your good. Any other questions, feel free to ask. But just so you know, if this is your first time doing something like this it's going to be a little hard to understand with us telling you over a computer. But there's alot of people here that are better at explaining stuff then I am anyway...
