The attached map shows the new site. The map is shown for reference only and does not indicate an exact coverage area.



This VIPER site was made possible through a partnership with Union County!

so......that explains what I heard last evening going along US74 from Rockingham into Monroe...sounded like some radio techs in the field ...one was around Wadesboro, and the other was around Wingate........giving readings on how good reception was in different locations, with mobiles, and on portables in vehicles......this went on till around 7:30 last night

I'm glad the Caldwell digital talkgroups were uploaded! I had to drive from Charlotte -> Raleigh last weekend and left my VIPER bank on open... all I caught was digital garbles while passing through, had to keep locking them out.

Where were you hearing the Caldwell TGs between Charlotte and Raleigh? Just curious why they would be on whatever towers you were hearing them on.

Where were you hearing the Caldwell TGs between Charlotte and Raleigh? Just curious why they would be on whatever towers you were hearing them on.

I'm sorry, I jumped the gun. I saw all the new digi talkgroups added and thought they were the same ones I had to keep locking out, in fact most of the ones I locked out were from Wake County, and the Town of Holly Springs.

There are a few I have locked out that aren't listed in the database though, when I get some time to go through the list I'll post them in this thread so someone with a digital capable scanner can monitor them.

Have only had two affiliations with the site in the last 12 hours.
One was with Troop H District 4 and another one was Burke County Sheriff.
Site shows as C123 Site 0027. Which I guess conforms to site 227.

Iredell VIPER

I noticed what appeared to be talkgroups on Barium Springs and Pores Knob that were patched to some Iredell County conventional channels.

29840 patched to 453.650 Iredell County SO
31536 patched to 453.200 Statesville PD
29872 patched to 155.205 Iredell County EMS

I stopped at exit 151 and recorded these in the Wal-Mart parking lot but I did not hang around to see if there was a patch to Iredell County Fire.

I have picked up 29840 Iredell Co. SO and 29872 Iredell Co. EMS on the Mooresville site. The only other TG's showing up are SHP. Iredell Co. Fire is most likely not yet patched.

I also picked up this afternoon TG 31632. It was a multi-broadcast from several channels of Iredell ECOM reference an AMBER Alert from Johnston County. I will update as I monitor this one further.

ok when an announcement like the above for Brunswick - Supply site is made ,what exactly does "activated" mean - I take it it's not really operational ? There certainly isn't any activity on the system !!

Site Activations

If a notice is sent out, announcing the activation of a VIPER site, it means that the site is now fully operational and able to accept radio traffic from properly configured radios.
