I just got a new 2007 Mercury Mariner and Installed a Uniden BCD996T. It looks pretty good being that it matches the rest of the interior.

I also have an all black 13" antenna installed on my roof (from Scanner Master) and an external speaker under the passenger side dash.

Nice install, both the radio and NMO look professional!

Cool

Also, the head on the uniden matches the front interior outline which makes it look even better.

Ah, I made it sound like I did it myself, but I had it professionally done (at the same time I had my auto-start put in). I would not have been confident enough to drill and pull panels off my new car!

Nice installation. It appears you did not have any alternative to mounting it sideways. I have a dual band amateur mobile mounted in the same manner and find looking at the display to be quite difficult in spite of only having a limited amount of information on the screen, far less than what a scanner has. I'm going to be making some modifications to the dash in order to align the control head portion of the radio horizontally. It would be great if Uniden made a detachable control head for 996 and you had more options for mounting it.

They sure are planning on one in (hopefully) early 2007. Named the "BC-RH6" there is a thread started in the Uniden forum.

Looks like it will work with the -996, -15, -330, and -396.

Now hopefully they release it at a decent price point!
