2007 off to a busy start in Portland

2007 was just a few hours old when we got multiple calls
for a fire at SE 30th Ave. and Belmont St. First due Eng. 9
ordered a 2nd alarm on arrival and the Batt. chief ordered
a 3rd alarm a short time later.
In the photo, Truck 13 has just arrived and preparing to
throw the stick to the roof.

On Jan. 3 we had a fire in an apartment built on a very
steep slope and the street was narrow and steep with
many curves. Because of the difficult access and
strenuous work stretching lines, 2 alarms were
sounded to supplement manpower.

Its also been busy on the law enforcement side:

2 Shootings (that I know of) in east Portland
1 Shoot-out in NE (no one hit)
1 guy stabbed in the back in North PDX
1 stabbing @ Hillsboro Library
PDX and Wash County SWAT teams were both activated at least once (that I know of) in January
