Finally got it set up. The switch box allows turning off the rh-96 control head, radio and GPS in the back. Power is feed to the 996xt and the GPS power from the front using CAT 5 cable and the remote kits from KE4NYV (found here http://forums.radioreference.com/un...h96-control-head-remote-kit-first-look-3.html ). The kit is actually reversed from the original so that the power jump port is used to get power from the switch box. One Icom 880 is for D-Star and the other is analog. The Jotto Desk for the Toughbook CF-29 is not shown but the extra power supply is on the right side of the console. One extra switch and two with corresponding LED's for activating front and rear hidden LED light bars.

You have to love owning a Tahoe. They are such radio friendly vehicles. Your setup is awesome. I like the detail you put into it keeping it professional looking. I like the switch box idea.

YOUR SETUP SUCKS!!!!

cause it's not mine:D and I want it

seriously-very professional which is what you want! Like Wise said-you are lucky in the age to have all that room-it's at such a premium now especially in the cabin.

Antennas

2 dual band icoms, and 1 UHF, 1 VHF scanner antenna??

Because of going into garage (home and parking) I opted for the Laird Phantom low profile antennas. So each Icom has a duplexer to separate the U and V. Now in most of Texas the TxWarn 800 analog and P-25 system and the LCRA cover most of the central, northeast and southeast. So one 996XT is 800/700 trunking only going to the center rear Laird 800 and the other 996XT is conventional analog and P-25 V/U on a Laird VHF which does very well for broadband coverage.

under the vents

nice setup , i also have a 2010 ltz crew cab , just wondering how you have those 2 icoms setup under the air vents ?

Short piece of wood quarter round from Home Depot. heavy duty double sided tape on the curved side that fits the curve of the dash and the Icom mounting plates stuck to the flat side. They are so light heat has not been an issue. The control cable is flat phone cable feed into the small space at the top of the radio bezel. Bought the cable at Fry's along with the connectors. Custom cut from radio to control head.

This looks amazing.

May I ask what ya do for a livin?

Again, nice pro setup

Right now I am retired but that will soon be changing, almost 30 year with Harris County Sheriff's Office. Started doing CB and scanner installs back in high school for fun. Up until 2000 we were allowed to custom install on our G-rides. At one time I had a SO Suburban that we rigged out but I never took any photos of the inside. Two 800 Spectra, one Uhf, one Vhf X9000 and one low band X9000 dual PA300 sirens.

PS the Tahoe didn't come with center console. It had the jump seat option. Bought the console of E-Bay an enhanced the 12V wiring on it before the install.

Thanks for all the kudos

Took them off old mic's. Some unscrew at the center of the hanger on the outside some have a screw on the inside, just depends on the orig manufacturer. One hanger came from a Vertex and one from an Icom commercial mic. There is clearance on the inside of the Icom to do an install. Much easier than you you think.

he said he's using a duplexer between the antenna pairs, looks like each icom has a uhf and a vhf, and a duplexer.

Dont know if he's transmitting, but he certainly could, with that setup.

Robert721: I took a mic hanger off my base yeasu, drilled a hole in my icom mic, and popped it on there, thanks for the great idea.

do you mind elaborating on how your extended the mic cables on the 880s? I need a longer mic cable for my 880h and it looks like you just have a cat3 jumper to the radio base. I appreciate it.
