i need to get me a digital scanner lol so i can hear what their saying then maybe i could help myself

Rumor has it that the upcoming Uniden BCD396xt works great on VIPER both analog & digital. And the fact it does muti-site will be a big asset with a system like VIPER. And with a limit of 25,000 channels/talkgroups max one could (in theory) load every VIPER talkgroup into it and still have lots of room left over.
All the above is just rumor though

Good, because I'm about to take out my P245 on this 996 I got. I'v'e about had it with this piece of junk. I have reverted back to the good old 796 and it's a thousand times better, without having to make a single adjustment!! Yeah, the features on the 996 are nice but what good are they when you can't hear anything? I have tried everything in the book to get VIPER to work correctly with this brick. You put the two side by side and the audio on the 996 doesn't even come close to the 796.....

I thought I had sent ya a message brother...catch up with me sometime as I am sure we can work on the 996...we can make that thing sing...just have to tweak it...
I can't imagine using a 796 now...I am trying to program one for an LEO buddy and it is a pain to program via software...

I'll get Stanly County added to the database.

Wallace (Duplin County) appears to have a VIPER site now.

I have solid CC data on 868.6875, as site 31 in Zone 3, alias is WALACE..

I have submitted this to the admins to addition to the database..

I am also reciving sites in Bladen, Goldsboro, Greenville, and I think I had a hit on the main Raleigh site tonight. Must be a band opening on 800 tonight....a great chance to find some new VIPER sites....

Unknown TG, 45872

Tonight, for the second time in a couples months, I picked up some traffic on TG 45872 in Burke County. Sounded almost like a discreet or talk around channel, the conversation was short, and more personal than structured and professional.

45872= MITCHELLEM (Mitchell County Emergency Management).
Looks like it is time to add Mitchell County to the database.

I was monitoring for a while earlier this afternoon and picking up SHP with numerous weather related 10-50's in both Troops E & F. Troop E traffic centered on Surry & Davie Counties. All these picked up from the Mooresville VIPER site. Family in Surry County verified snow accumulation on ground & roads. Also reports of snow accumulation Iredell County area Statesville and northward. Up to this point, no verifiable accumulation in Mooresville with mostly rain and occasional sleet mixed with sparse snow.

Has anyone had any luck monitoring Greenville and Pitt County since they went to Viper two weeks ago? Just got a Uniden BCD996T and am having no luck picking up anything so far. Any ideas what stupid thing I'm doing here?

I pick these up quite well from Rocky Mount. I am not sure of the BCD996T, but with a GRE500 a quick setup is this. Tune to 896 mhz and search up. You will encounter many control channels. The GRE will display control channel and site info. When you hit the Farmville or Greenville sites set up a wildcard talkgroup for monitoring. Nearly all Greenville traffic is digital.
