Ladies & Gentlemen,
Interoperability at it's finest this evening.
Major Accident Wake County area where
Wade Ave Joins up with I40 Westbound (Exit 289).
Had a fully involved 18 wheeler with extension to surrounding
Woods.
Then there was several accidents i40 Eastbound in same area (including 1 entrapment).
Agencies Involved So Far:
Western Wake FD, Cary FD, Morrisville FD, Swift Creek FD, many EMS & Chiefs.
3 different VIPER Wake County Talkgroups being used:
MutAid 1W (28016 Analog)
MutAid 2W (28048 Analog)
MutAid 3W (28080 Analog).
I apologize if I left units out. All on scene personnel are to be commended
for working smoothly together in a heck of a mess during main drive time.
This is when the money spent is well worth it.

With all of the discussion, I decided to create a wiki page on the RR Wiki site. This site is intended to complement both the database and forums not replace either. Hopefully we can get a comprehensive system in place!

And to add to what Robby says above the Wiki site is for VIPER information other than Site & Talkgroup info. Both Site & Talkgroup info belong in the database with the Wiki to house additional VIPER info.

I was in Cary Sunday night for a Monday Meeting, and heard some interesting traffic on VIPER TG 42640. They were giving the tail number from an aircraft, and were speaking of the Electronic Locator Transmitter (ELT). The only folks I know who do this are Civil Air Patrol.

Good catch John! 42640 is indeed the NC CAP (NCCAPEAST).
I have added the CAP Talkgroups to the VIPER database listing.

Digital Reception in Wake county

I live in Garner, NC and I have a Pro-106 and BCD996T. Is there anyway to improve my digital reception? Should I program in a new site? I have the standard site control channel 868.7875. Is there another site to add that would be closer by..another antenna but still being able to hear everything? I know some sites u cant hear everything. Any ideas?

The 868.7875/868.5625 is the correct CC setup for Garner/Wake County.
I have never had any issues receiving 800Mhz in Garner and I am in Garner
pretty frequently (it's my hometown & my parents still live there).
Double check that you do not have the attenuator on.
Catch up with me sometime via email and we will meetup in Garner
and see if everything is programmed as it should be.

Pender County Switch

Just to let everyone know that Pender County EMS will be switching to their appropraite VIPER talkgroups for dispatch and operations effective February 3 2009 at 0800. They will continue to use the existing VHF frequency for paging and alerting only, basically "one way" communications.

The Pender County Sheriff's Office and all other Law Enforcement agencies dispatched by the Pender 911 Center (operated by the Sheriff's Office) will be switching to the appropriate VIPER talkgroups effective February 10 1009 at 0800.

Pender County Fire will come sometime this summer hopefully, after the Sheriff's Office has acquired rant funding to purchase VIPER mobiles for all fire apparatus in the county. All fire department in Pender County now have a VIPER (XTS2500 I.5) portable in each fire truck and each Chief and Deputy Chief (which I happen to be) have (XTS2500 II) VIPER portables for interoperability.

Now I am just waiting for my income tax refund so I can get a GRE PSR600, or something similar to monitor everything else on VIPER and the digital groups on the NHC system.
