Submitted 51664 as Henderson Co. SO. They were testing out the system and some dispatching occured. I heard them on both of the Henderson Co. sites.

Did not see this in the submission que but still added the Henderson County
TGs to the VIPER Database listing.
After a hectic week of work plus being a little under the weather I am now
getting back into the swing of things.
Bear with me as I try to get the submissions caught up.

For some reason I have been hearing 19824 (Tricom) on the Holly Ridge Site.

Why would there be a radio down here on that TG in Zone 3? I guess all Wake units have statewide abilities on their TGs but other counties don't?

Also, for those around Holly Ridge, Wilmington and Brunwick Counties, Brunswick's TGs are beginning to see more activity. I was listening to several that were affiliated to Holly Ridge late last night.

VIPER&Dare co

Does antone know when they are rebanding the VIPER system and what frequencies what i put in for NCHP in Currituck County and Dare County. Does anyone know if Dare County is going to phase II TDMA or if anyone on in NC is. If so when if you know. Please let me know asap.

If you click on he database, then click on North Carolina, then go to the bottom of the page, then click on VIPER. Browse thru the sites until you get to the ones that start with 3 as the site number. Currituck, several Dare sites and well as Camden and Pasquotank are listed. Pick out the ones in blue and red and program those in.

A couple of things:
1) Actual working 800Mhz radios (such as a Moto XTS5K) are only supposed to be programmed by authorized personnel.
2) If you don't know the basics of trunked two way radio programming (such as how to enter in control channels) then it is pretty obvious
you are not authorized to program said radio for use on the VIPER system and trying to program said radio for use on the VIPER system is not kosher.
3) There is a very good chance that the 1st time your radio tries to affiliate with the nearest VIPER tower site it is gonna get stunned and bricked.
Which means you end up with a nice expensive doorstop/paperweight.
To sum up: If you need to have an actual two way radio on VIPER either contact an authorized programming source and explain to them why you need an XTS5K programmed for VIPER or join an agency that uses VIPER for its day to day comms.
Or just buy a scanner.

Not to mention the fact that you would have to have a system key issued by the state. I'm an authorized programmer and I was issued a zone 4 key. I asked for a zone 3 key because of the way some of my radios were originally programmed and received an adamant "no". I truly hope no one has let any system keys out into the "wild".

Saw a new TG pop up on the Holly Ridge site...17184.

Sounds like obvious new VIPER users, as they kept doing radio checks and saying "loud and clear", and both radios were on the same site, as they were both in Hampstead. One also reminded the other that the "orange button is active and not to activate it".

Thanks to whitehelmet for the posted above information. Here is some information to add:

There is a set of 6 talkgroups I have recorded with two of the 6 being the more used. The radio ids, that affliated and called, are in the block set aside for Brunswick County Sheriff. So one could assume...

56864 is a event talk group used by c.c. so at the crown coliseum in Fayetteville.

I've recently been updating my scanner and notice that there is a listing in the RR Database for Anderson Mtn in Catawba County. It all looks legit and I actually had this in my scanner already.

When I check this against the site list on pboy's blog and the VIPER newsletter from May, this site is not listed in either place.

Does anyone from Catawba way know if this site exists?

Yes, Anderson Mtn is for real. It's in Zone 4....I can't remember the site # right off the top of my head. It was the only site my radio would affiliate with in my old office in Newton.

It's under Lincoln County in both places.

Not sure why the VIPER people are calling it as such.

I followed what they were officially publishing for that list.

I tag it Catawba County myself since that's the actual county the site is in.

Its Zone 4, site 51, "ANDERS.

Mark, the most recent Advanced System Keys that were distributed include all four zones AND the P25 system as well as the trailer key.
