Spoke with a Holden Beach police officer tonight about the county's transition to VIPER. Sheriff's department is almost there, but relying on a patch between UHF & 800. Holden (among other small town departments), have a rough 18 month timeline, but are very skeptical since installs are close to $5000 alone per vehicle.
He directed me to RadioReference.com and had a lot of good things to say about the people on here and the good information (even for such a wacky system like the SmartLink like what they're using). He was the radio guru for their department and made mention that he just had to change some stuff on their scanners for the Pea Landing site...I'll have to do some digging to see if it was anything major like a new LCN, and I'll submit it once if I find anything and after I confirm it.
I'm not seeing that many affiliations on T88, but that doesn't mean there aren't other channels for the Sheriff's Dept. to use. I'll keep it running over night and while I'm out during the day to see what it can log.
