I's searched in the Wiki pages and I know its been covered about how to convert the Hex for a TGID to Decimal and so forth, but what is the 6 digit number found on come of the VIPER template plans that are distributed to the agencies? For example, TGID 19984 which is Statewide Call (SW CALL), has a Hex ID of 4E1 and the VIPER ID is 801249. Some of the spreadsheets list this number in the row labled "Dec.". This doesn't appear to match the DEC number listed in the database here. Anyone have an answer? I know Mike can explain it.....

It is Motorola's way of displaying the talkgroup ID in their programming . If you drop the 8 and the first 0, then take the 1249 and multiply by 16 you get 19984. A talkgroup ID of 800001 would have an ID of 16 in DEC form. I should say this is the format for 3600-baud type systems like VIPER or Winston-Salem/Forsyth County but I think it is different for a true P25 system.

Hey Wes...it is just another way to display a TGID number on a 3600bps system :)
As Steve alludes to in his post Motorola wanted to give folks a couple of different ways to
view TGIDs...they either used Hex (4E1) or their Decimal based system (801249).
Most radio technicians only ever view the info in the hex format because that is what is needed to program a radio for use on a system. In fact, most radio technicians I know keep their versions of Trunk88 and Unitrunker in hex format instead of the scanner format us scanner geeks are used to.
also as Steve said, if you come across a Moto 6 digit TGID just remove the 1st two digits and only worry about the rest (1249 in your example). Convert 1249 to Hex and you have 4E1 which is the hex version. Or take 1249 and multiply it by 16 and you have the TGID us scanner geeks use.
Awhile back I revived a dormant site that had a TGID converter that allows you to easily convert between the various TGID formats:
Basic Conversion Functions for Radio/Scanner Operations
Feel free to bookmark it and use it as needed :)
Note that as Steve says the above is really only useful for 3600bps systems...pure P25 9600bps systems no longer use the x16 format for separating TGIDs.

Zone 4 is Rutherford, Catawba, Caldwell, Wilkes, Alleghany and everything west. The database shows Cleveland County having both Zone 2 and Zone 4 sites. Zone 2 is the Charlotte Metro area north to the High Point, Winston-Salem, Greensboro Area with the eastern limit being Richmond, Montgomery, Randolph, Alamance and Rockingham Counties. Zone 3 is Columbus County diagonally north to Hertford? County east to the coast. Zone 1 is the Raleigh and Fayetteville areas(everything between 2 & 3). Zone 1 would be Central, Zone 2 Piedmont, Zone 3 East and Zone 4 West

edit: All Cleveland County sites are Zone 2

Went ahead and add the Polk County TGs to the database.
Thanks for your contribution televiper75 :)

To my knowledge no Davidson County County Troopers have Viper equipment as of yet. I have seen where Davidson County has tower permits for new towers at 2 locations. This being said, does anyone know the scheduling for Davidson County to start seeing some viper equipment go on line?
