Yesterday I heard VIPER TG 63472 with Nightingale (Ambulance Helo owned by Sentara) calling rescue crews (EMS or FD - not sure as I did not hear anyone answer) at a LZ site when they were trying to respond to a call. I was in the Tyrrell County area and it was on the Columbia site. Also, I heard VIPER TG 17264 working a narcotics investigation in Windsor (Bertie County). Neither TG is in the database (I checked the latest version). The more counties switch over to VIPER, the more exciting things get.

Richard, if my figuring is correct, 63472 is Dare Mutual Aid Digital.

From listening to my scanner today, I now believe that # 17200 is either Brunswick Co. Sheriff or more possibly Leland Police.

The numerous times where a location or a dispatch address was given, all locations google mapped to the Leland, NC area and all these locations are within the city limits of Leland. However, the majority of the locations was on US 17 right off 17/74/76 where the speed limit changes from 55 mph to 35 mph (near the Wal-Mart, Smithfields, strip malls, etc) and the Leland Police loves to let you know that the area is a major ticket-trap and show off the Mustang in the process.

#######
CONFIRMED, #17120 is Brunswick Sheriff - just heard conversations asking one of their LEO's (who stated his current location as being the at the Smithfields in Leland) to go down to NC 211 on the outskirts of Southport and do radar speed traps on the outbound lanes because the traffic was getting very heavy and fast due to everyone leaving Southport to go back home.

Went ahead and added these 2 TGs to the database.
Thanks!

I have a question to the folks in Nash County. I put up a new discone antenna this past weekend and I am hearing a VIPER TG for Nash Sheriff and also hearing another one (I think its the FD if I remember right). What would the effective height be in Nash for a VIPER tower (I can always research it but am hoping someone there might have seen the tower and be familiar with the terrain. I am hearing the site full quieting (and Edgecombe and Pitt also). Even hearing 155 Mhz repeaters in New Bern and 453.2 Greenville transportation buses. Works good on 2 meters and 440 too (transmitting). I could not find and mini 8 coax so am using RG6. Do most of the VIPER sites run the same amount of power and what would be the gain their antennas? Anyone ever see anything on here about that? I am reprogramming my scanner to see how far I can receive.

See ya and 73

Sounds like Statewide Events Alpha 2A (TGID 816) being used by SHP for
command post in advance of the Presidents visit here in the Triangle in little while.

I would also recommend pulling up Apex PDs digital TGs.
I can only pickup the Statewide Event TGs here at work in Durham

Today's event was a good example of how far NC has come with interoperability.
You had several local agencies (NCSHP, RPD, WSO, Morrisville PD, Apex PD, DOT IMAP as examples) who use VIPER on a daily basis and were able to communicate with Federal agencies on VIPER which helped assure that things would go smoothly with limited (to no) miscommunications. All of the agencies involved deserve major kudos for all of the time and effort involved with todays events.

Oh and once again SHP C341 has to be one of the most entertaining Troopers I have ever heard. Not a shift of his goes by that I don't crack up laughing over something he has said over the radio. :) Dude needs to consider going into standup comedy.

I just wish I could have taken today off from work so I could have heard the KRDU Tower traffic as AF1 was coming into 5L/23R.
