Would that not monkey with people in Southern VA, Northern SC, or Eastern TN using a Home Patrol that may have no interest in listening to Viper? If they are in the circle and they just monitor everything close or by GPS does it know not to listen for Viper?

To jump in here and clarify a little: the lat/long/range Geolocation feature is for all scanners that use it (mainly the HP-1 and the GRE PSR 700/800 for now). Yes, the default range is not "perfect" but it is the best we can do under the constraints of the shape of our wonderful state.

I will say that even when I put in my local Raleigh location info into one of the Geolocation scanners that it still by default pulls back SC/TN/VA etc. I then have to "fine tune" the scanned systems to get truly local results.
No matter what there will always be some location tweaking needed to produce "optimal" results.
Hey, if anyone has any better ideas on how to handle oddly shaped states (which make up the majority of our US States) I am sure Lindsay, Eric, Uniden and GRE would all be open to hearing from you
