Low band skip

I have been listening for low band for about 6-months and have not heard anthing thing what so ever?
I use an old 6ft radio shack ground plane tuned to about 40mhz. i have picked up baby monitors and old cordless phone calls
Do you know when the skip cycle will be more active?

Thanks for your help guys,i will look at both sights over the week end
I thought their would be a little activity,but have not heard much since about 2002'
Also i wonder if tried to use 5-element vertical yagi for DX
