To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Does anyone know how to remove the center row dome light assembly in a 2010 Ford Explorer, or any 2010 Ford truck for that matter?

I want to install a NMO mount on the roof above the dome light in hopes of avoiding the need to detach the headliner to run the coax. After pulling off the plastic lens cover, there do not appear to be any screws and it seems somehow attached to the actual headliner itself.

If it's like my 2011 F150, there are some plastic tabs that hold it to the headliner. One of them is in the back, two in the front. I think the two in the front could be gently pried back with a screwdriver blade to release from the headliner. It would just come out after that. I think I remember it taking some work to actually get it out once the clips were released.
You pretty much have to experiment in cases like this. Good luck.

Dome light removal

Front dome
After you have removed the clear cover
Find the two slots to the rear of the fixture.
insert a flat screw driver into each slot,. as you pull downward and it will release
As it drops out at the rear the front part of the fixture will slide back like a drawer.

The rear hatch dome is a one piece unit, as you tug down on the rear you will see two metal tabs that will release with a flat screw driver.

Fresh in my head. as I did both about 6 hours ago

Only my 2 cents... I've seen NMO's installed directly above a dome light that had to be relocated & replaced because the coax got soft and shorted. If the end-user leaves the door open for an extended period time those lights get hot. Just try to pull those tube bulbs out with your fingers if they've been on for longer than a minute. I know it's quick & easy... I've done it myself... but keep it in mind.
