Troops G, B, E, and I will all have sites at their Headquarters. C's is real nearby HQ though.

Presumably because the sites that will be at HQ's are able to give good enough mobile coverage to reach ~95%. New towers were built for troops B and I too.

H needs a new one after the wind storm this summer. So according to the map, the closest site to me is about 15 miles away, I guess that will provide good listening to where I'm at... Also the wiki shows there will be a total of 228 towers, the map sure doesn't show that many.

Oh okay. That was the old proposal though. 150 sites were proposed before too. Budget cuts brought it down to 71 with VHF on most and 700/800 on some urban sites as well as Sikeston and Jefferson City.

Good deal, thanks for clearifying that up. I guess we'll wait and see, they may add more as time goes on. I can't wait to start listening around here in Troop H, waiting for more licences to come online. I wonder if they plan on joining the other P25 systems around the state.

The Zone 2 sites in the metro St. Louis area along with the sites in Independence have the same System ID, so really the number of sites should end up higher than 71. At least 84 sites really then.

Why not A, G, H? I'm confused on how it's all gonna work out once it's completed.

G is using their troop tower.

Although I don't know specifics on A and H I do remember that a couple of the troop towers were either out of location or failed structural for the load. H would have been right between two sites.

It is a rather complex issue to site a statewide system, and sometimes existing assets just don't work.

The state has bought a number of the old AT&T towers over the past few years, and been donated a number of the IXC and MCI towers. They have made a lot of use of those sites.
