Not many mounting options with the Equinox so I had to go with the 396XT for the scanner with the power adapter plug for power. It is basically being held in place by the Antenna wire and has the belt clip on the back. Sounds crude but it actually hit very well and the unit is so light it is creating next to no pull on the antenna cable and the belt clip turned sideways keeps it stable on turns, it never moves an inch.
With no radio mounting options, I had to go with the Remote Head for the NX-700 mounted under the AM/FM radio housing. It does block of my CD player but who uses those these days? The actual radio is hidden behind the console behind some plastic walls so no pictures of that. The Red light under the radio is the adapter for the scanner plugged into the power port. Both are run off the ignition so they both power on when I start the vehicle and stay on for a couple minutes after turning it off or until I open a door.
Antennas are both L Bracket fender mounts. Perferably I would go with roof mount but I couldn't bring myself to drill into a new-ish vehicle....plus I already had the brackets. They work perfectly fine and I am able to transmit and trip repeaters up to 30km -40km + away no problem. All in all, very happy with the way it is set up but I would prefer if my wife let me have a truck again instead of this SUV so I can have a real install lol.
