This is my 2014 Ford Explorer Limited with a CF-30 Toughbook, BCD996XT, BC-RH96, Laird Technologies TRAB7603 800Mhz Antenna with a Laird Technologies GMB8BI mag mount. I also have a Spy Tech A118 Dash Camera.

My 4 interests growing up were Cars, Computers, Scanners and Stereo Systems. Now all grown up and have combined all of them together. (There are also 2 12 inch subs in the back and a 750watt amp under the drivers seat. Amp has its own wiring kit separate from the relay power coming in from the battery.)

Everything is powered off of either a ignition controlled relay with its own fused power wire coming in from the battery or the 12V AC plug on the back of the center console.

CF-30 Mounted on a Ram Laptop no drill mount. Internet is supplied via a hotspot on my phone which usually sits in the holster on the side of the laptop mount. I have a Samsung Note 4 and use SideSync to display my phone on the laptop screen. I can control my phone through the mouse or touchscreen of the laptop.

BCD996XT Located in the center console. Wires are ran through a small hole drilled on the back of the console towards the bottom and ran to under the passenger seat.

One of two 12 volt Cigarette plugs. It is located just under the glove box. This one powers the BC-RH96 and the Dash Cam.

Extra 12 volt Cigarette plug for future use.

Spy Tech A118 Dash Cam with a 32gb flash card.

View of under the front passenger seat. Power strip is plugged into the 12 Volt AC on the rear of the center console. The Laptop power supply and the BCD996XT are plugged into the power strip. You can also see the External Speaker that is velcroed to the cup holder from the back of the center console. This works great as it gives me a place to put my drinks if they don't fit under the laptop mount.

View from the front of the SUV where you can see the camera and the antenna. Dash cam is on the left. There is another camera that is surrounded in the dark black area for the rain sensing auto wipers and the auto headlight bright/dim.

Antenna is just a mag mount for now. I ran out of money and plan to properly mount it to the roof. It is on the right side as the wire was not that long.

Nice install up front - clever to mount the RH96 to the laptop mount like that. Interesting way to do the power; I probably would have never thought of that option.

Nice setup. Good thing about the most popular police vehicle will be all the accessories available. How do you like the TRAB7603, I love mine.

Where did you get your cigar outlets, I need to add one to my car the stock ones don't work.

I see Grove City on the display. They should be on the digital system in the coming weeks.

Thank you. Since I do not have a cigarette adapter for the Toughbook or the BCD996XT, I had no choice but to use the AC power on the back of the Console. Putting the power strip down there gives me the ability to use it for something else down the line as long as it doesn't pull too much power. I also had to do the ignition controlled relay because the Cigarette plugs on the newer Ford Explorers are always hot. I got tired of always having to power 3-4 different things down.

I like the TRAB7603. I got it based on your recommendation from another thread. I wish I could find a good phantom mount that will pick up 800mhz as well as air bands. I would like to be able to scan the local air traffic. If you know of one please let me know. I know there are regular antennas out there that will do it but they are all too tall for me to fit in the garage. Once I replenish the play funds I may look at doing something like this gentlemen did.

For the Cigarette plugs:

Amazon Prime is my best friend. You cannot beat some of their prices and free 2 day shipping.

This is the one up under the dash.

This is the one next to the mount pole.

Nice setup.

Very nice setup in that SUV. Half expected a case or shelf in the back too.

Thank you for posting pictures, nice to see other installs.

I'd like to hear more about the Spy Tec dash cam as it has a mixed bag of reviews on Amazon. Is yours the capacitor version or standard battery power?
