• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hey all!

So I've been trying to decide how to install my TM-V71A for a while now.. I was thinking about trying to hide the body under the center console but that seems near impossible as the front dash appears to be all one piece.

Is there any one who also has this vehicle who could recommend a way to install radios with the idea of further installation in the future. Maybe center console Police style? Or a mount of some sort that would support a scanner and a couple mobiles?

Thanks!

I bought one back in May, fully intending to mount VHF and 800 remote mount radios in it. The radios are a Kenwood TK7180 and Motorola XTL2500 (I also tried it with the Kenwood and a Pro-197). I bought the RAM Mount telepole setup, installed it, thought it looked great and would work fine. The wife took one look and said nope, not happening. So I have all the parts sitting here. I have $290 invested, make an offer if interested. VB-188 base, VP-TBF9U, VPTTM12U and VP-TTM8U poles, VB-ADJ1 adjust-a-pole, VB-110-2U ball arm and 111-BU electronics base. The pole comes up right next to the center console, mounted the remote heads on the ball mount on top and swung it above the shifter. I never fully mounted the radios but intended to put the guts under the passenger seat. I initially bought the 12" pole but it was too tall and went back to the 8"/9" combination. PM me if you have other questions or want to make an offer.

Not exactly the same vehicle, my wife has the 2014 Compass I got the Patriot. I mounted the "guts" of the radio under the passenger seat of my Patriot and put the head on the center counsel of my jeep. I need to get a Ram mount for it so I can see the screen easier I have a topic in the Mobile/Shack area above this one on here.
