2016 Silverado

After weeks of a few hours here..a few hours there it's finally done (for now).
The console is homemade, and I wish that I had moved the 10M rig up 1/2 inch so there would be more clearance for the 2M/440 radio on the bottom. Antennas are 1) Larsen NMO27, 2) Comtelco 140/440, and 3) old Maxrad 1/4 wave for scanning, which does fine for 800 Mhz (most of what I listen to).

Very tempted to go for a Jotto for better cosmetics, but this will do for now!

I was really going for that upside-down look on my antenna photography. Sorry about that.

I don't have the exact dimensions offhand. I used some cardboard to make a template (for the plywood) for one of the sides and then mirrored the other side. Lots of trial and error. I believe that the geometry of the pre-2014s is different anyway. The Jotto for the pre-2014s is REALLY nice - room for four radios. You might want to check that out.

Nice work. Good antenna install. Those old TM-V7s just keep on going. I have two in tac boxes for event use.

Thanks! I can't seem to find an excuse to buy another mobile rig. That radio has been ticking along since 1998. I checked the SWR when I finished this install and it still puts out 50W on-the-nose.

Here's my 2016 Silverado. Havis console. It can be a little tight getting to the latch for the lower seat console, but it looks great and does the job for me.

Looks like he has the bracket that mounts to the center console bolts (it's available from Havis as well) but I'd like confirmation on that as well.

For mine, I used Havis's vehicle specific mount that they make for Sierra/Silverados. It just bolts to the seat mounts. No drilling involved.

Yours looks good. I think there are two models of this console, both very similar? Seems I remember that last time I looked. Do you know off hand which one you got?

Looks great! Did you have to remove the middle seat in order to bolt that bracket? I saw this setup on the Havis website and was very tempted, but my 10M radio would stick out the front quite a bit b/c it has a really big heatsink on the back.

That is one sweet install. No mess of wires and not cluttered. Looks very professional. You do good work man!

For the Havis floor bracket, all you have to do is remove the plastic cover over the two front seat bolts and loosen them enough to slide the bracket under it. Tighten it back up and you are done. I've used this same console in two previous Silverado's. I just had to get a new bracket for the truck each time.

Any chance you used it in a GMT800 body? I'm trying to find something to work in my 03.

C-AS-840-11 is what I have. I got it before they came out with the C-AS-840-8.
