• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Making ready for a summer journey to Alaska in our Winnebago Via and I have lots of room on floor up to dash for a center console radio box install and looking for recommendations for a place that makes portable racks for vehicles. I am wanting to mount 4 radios in a portable rack system that can be easily removed (ideally with a handle on top) and taken outside or secured in hidden compartment while on excursions. I am going to have it professionally installed and wired with applicable antennas on the roof. I would maybe like the rack inside a handsome wood enclosure that will sit on the floor tilted up for easy viewing of the radios. (SDS200, BCD536HP, BC980SSB, Icom IC-2730A) Willing to make a weekend of it if anyone can suggest a professional installer within 500mi of Dayton, Ohio. Thanks!

Honestly, I would give Centre Communications in Bellefonte, PA. There a good bit from you however, this sounds like it’s right up the alley of Carl and his team of installers.

Thanks! I'll look them up on Monday. If it's anywhere close to the Hershey chocolate factory and theme park, I will probably be forced to drive there at gunpoint. ;)

Personally I would have them mounted permanently in your location. Then have a false panel made to match that u can just pop on to cover up.... if someone is going to rob your rig they will go through everything... invisible and hard to get out is the only way

JSTARS03! That is almost exactly what I am looking for! I want it for 4 mobile rigs (SDS200, BCD536HP, BC980SSB, Icom IC-2730A) - and 3 HTs (SDS100, TRX-1, YAESU FT-2DR) and it looks like I can customize it and layer it and tilt it the way I want with the handhelds on top. Shouldn't be too difficult to possibly enclose it in a wood cabinet. Attach a luggage handle on top. I think I can work with this - thanks a million there, JSTARS03!

Man I just love this place!
