The VHF aircraft band is 108-136 MHz, although you'll only hear navigational aides between 108-118 MHz, if you're close enough to them. Air-air and air-ground communications will be in the 118-136 MHz range.

You may hear a mix of military air-air in the AM mode, as well as NFM and P25 repeaters and simplex users, such as the Civil Air Patrol, between 138-144 MHz and 148-150.7 MHz.

The UHF military air band is 225-400 MHz, although most of the communications in the area of 380-400 MHz will be P25 trunked radio systems for military bases and other goverment installations, rather than AM air-air and air-ground communications.
