Thought I'd start a thread of my own 2018 Dodge Charger R/T Blacktop to add to the earlier Charger pics by another RR user.

Yaesu FTM-400XDR (drawer is mounted in the spare tire well, grabbed power from the trunk-mounted battery) Speaker is mounted in behind the head and works well enough:

Larsen NMO150HW for VHF (trunk)
Larsen NMOQ for UHF (roof)
Each antenna feeds a Comet diplexer which feeds the FTM-400XDR drawer:

A trunk mounted battery must have made this an easy install! Looks great and nicely done.

Thanks guys. Yes, battery in the trunk made the install much easier. My last couple of cars have had this arrangement (Cadillac CTS-V and Pontiac G8).

Very nice install! Though I do like Yaesu radios, the face of the FTM-400 is a bit too big. I think when the new FTM-300 is released, I will look into getting that radio instead. Problem is, I like the storage and cubbies that the Charger has. Hmm...

Isn't the 300's control head bigger than the 400's? Wider at least. Anyway, I digress...

That's a good question. In the pics I've seen, it looks to be a bit narrower than the 400, but not by much.

Because space is an issue for me in my '10 Charger, the 400 wouldn't work. I have an FT-8800 in it currently with just barely enough room to add a second radio head. In looking at the 300, that still may be too big for me.

Looks like 5.47" vs 5.51"...so... .04" narrower than the 400 I guess it is. I was thinking it was wider so I will admit being wrong.

Okay... Yeah... that still won't work for me. I can shop around for the 100. I know it's going away soon, if not already. Maybe there's a good deal to be had with then soon.

Thank you, 03msc!
