2019 Stampede set up is well underway in Calgary (both for the parade and the actual event). If you are in the area and want to share your findings, please feel free!

The stampede's trunked radio system (Calgary Stampede Network) is very active with park setup coms.

So far I've noted the following new talkgroups:
560 ?
832 Audio Visual set up?
864 Audio Visual set up?
1072 Food service supervisors?
1120 ?

I've also logged 154.570 Pl 114.8 today (US Blue Star) with ride setup activity - Most likely North American Midway Entertainment out of the United States.

...now logging the following related talkgroups on Wicom Solutions DMR trunk (Wi-COM Solutions ):

25 - Stampede "enviro educators"
26 - Stampede Venue Services (cleaners)? with locations and talk of cleaning equipment. Note: this is not the UofC's students union as listed on the site. I suspect that talkgroups 24 to 50 on this system may be for rental use.
36 - VIP transport.

Noted today during a UHF search 451.7125 DPL 031 - constant open carrier. Last year (2018) I logged 451.7125 DPL 051 licensed to RF Wireless Systems with an open carrier prior to the stampede and then carrying camera control coms for the rodeo. It was paired with 456.7125 and running duplex - mobiles (cameras) on the 456 side and the controller on the constantly open 451 side. I ran a TAFL search and came back with the following frequencies listed for RF Wireless Systems for "19-100 Intercom & IFB 2019 Calgary Stampede" with an in service date of June 25 2019:

451.7125 (Paired + 5 MHz)
452.3625 (Paired + 5 MHz)
452.5375 (Paired + 5 MHz)
452.8125 (Paired + 5 MHz)
453.3125
453.3500
453.3875
453.5125
453.5750
453.6125
453.7000
458.1625

Not sure how they would be using the simplex frequencies broadcasting constantly - maybe an audio feedback type of thing?

Not so much on the repeater input side, more for the mobile receive. My ham gear is not happy in CSQ in Calgary. Lots of OOB noise opens the squelch all the time.

Yeah, I hear you. I get a lot of interference on receive as well. Lots of DMR repeaters downtown and I do get them mixing down in VHF with analog signals. I also get tons of interference from the AHS's 156.900 Mhz paging frequency - its everywhere!

Exactly. Here in Edmonton I also get noise even with PL enabled when a DMR signal mixes with an analogue signal that has the same PL as the repeater I’m listening to.

It’s likely simulcast from multiple locations(have not looked) and/or extremely high powered.

The transmit sites are only ~100W ERP, but there is a dozen sites sprinkled around the city and county.

Good god, CSQ on a repeater in Calgary?

I remember putting CTCSS on a ham repeater 30 years ago, and I was told by everybody that I was being a snob and elitist. I was just trying to reduce interference, FFS.
