ProScan found on 9/24/19 at about 4:47 PM a New TG - 3955 in Troop E (Poplar Bluff).

I heard no traffic on the two transmissions (11 seconds long total) but it was displayed as "LINK". RSSI was -91.

RR database does not have it.

Could those be datalinks for the terminals in the patrol cars?

I had not thought of that, but it very well could be.

That would certainly explain the lack of voice.

Thanks!

Is the 700,mhz simulcast system in St. Charles County in use? I have always used the Weldon Springs site and thought that was the only one. All this time I thought 700mhz was the SLATER system, but they are 800mhz...

I've not heard that site 2-004 since before the VHF Moswin sites started lighting up I don't think.
I thought at one time it was called the O'Fallon site but it does not show up as a neighbor site for any Moswin or Slater sites so it appears dead. I guess it could be some kind of a backup but you would think it would be on the air if that were the case or at least showing up as a failed neighbor site in Pro96com.
I still run the listed frequencies once in a while but never hear any activity.
Maybe it will become another fill in site like have been popping up in other areas of the state on Moswin.

That site still shows an active license but it is licensed to St Charles County government and not the state like Moswin sites are so it is an odd one. And your mention of Slater makes me think it could have started out under the Slater system also which may be the reason for the license holder.

As crowded as the 800 band is getting around here, it may be a good set of frequencies to keep in a scan bank as someone will eventually light it up.

O'ffallon, MO PD is listed on MOSWIN under St Charles County. The old 800MHz system they were on was the old St Louis City 800 system. Not sure why they were on it but it seemed to work, I guess. Isn't the police chief of O'ffallon a former high ranking city officer. Assistant chief or something. Maybe he just wanted to keep his roots with the city.

Yeah I noticed someone put the info in the database wrong too. St. Charles City and ST. Peter's as well if I recall.

Is there a list of VHF MOSWIN Inputs somewhere?
I know SOME sites list them in the notes but wondered if there were a full list, hopefully by site?

The licenses will list all the frequencies but in most cases you won't be able to tell which inputs and outputs are paired.
A lot of Moswin sites frequencies aren't listed due to being pulled from the VHF paging ranges which are licensed by market area.
Take a look at the callsigns for any of the VHF sites that show 152.xxx MHz frequencies. Hit the FCC site with that call and you will usually not find any of the paging band frequencies listed under the callsign.

They also use other ranges that were allocated for other services but unused in the state.
The paging sites are a bear to find anything as the inputs they assigned are not paired with anything normal.
I'm not sure but maybe the missing info can be found in CAPRAD but it's been a while since I've looked there.

Pro96com can help greatly here but you need to be near the site to decode its CC for that to work.

The auctioned paging (152/158 MHz) and VPC (161/157 MHz marine) channels are are paired blocks of frequencies. It's easy to find the inputs to those.

The federal frequencies that MOSWIN uses all have FCC licenses, but they are the same as public safety pool VHF licenses in that if there is more than one pair used at a site you usually can't tell which frequencies are paired.

UHF, 700, 800 and 900 MHz don't have that problem because standard offsets are used and the FCC won't allow non-standard offsets in those bands.

CAPRAD doesn't include VHF or UHF.

I didn't think CAPRAD was any help for the VHF frequencies. It's been a while since I'd visited the site but now recall using it for 700 MHz State Licenses.
Thanks for the reminder about the other two services having paired frequency blocks. I do recall finding that info before now that you mentioned it.

Again, Pro96com can be very handy for figuring this out if you are within range of a sites control channel. That may not answer wbloss's question to his liking but it's probably the best there is for those that may want to add any unlisted data maybe into the wiki for reference.
At least it will show what is paired with what. That's exactly what I ended up using for scanning the inputs for the local sites for nearby traffic.
It's always been spot on.

The biggest problem with using Pro96Com for discovery is that there are usually one or two voice channels that are not in rotation and only used when the site is busy. Pro96Com has no way of knowing anything about the voice channels until they are actually used.

If you use Pro96Com, the input frequency associations can be found in the various Tower files inside the System1CE sub directory.
I
I DO use Pro96Com, but not sure where to find what you suggest...on the "site information" tab?

I think I'll make a project of assembling the IPs from the licenses. See you in a few weeks!
