Starting a STARCOM21 thread for 2019 here....gotta figure out how to make this post a "sticky"......

Recently, I received a report of a new Site (T245) that was heard briefly from I-74 near Morton:

T245
====
851.87500 (c)
852.40000 (a)
857.21250 (a)
855.86250

Another listener notes that these same frequencies (along with their usages as reported above) are listed in the Radio Reference database for Site T145 in Gilson (Knox County). Perhaps T145 has become T245?

Is there anyone in the Gilson area who can confirm that T145 no longer exists and appears to have become T245? FWIW, 851.350 is also listed as active at T145 in the RRDB, but the person reporting T245 didn't mention seeing that freq reported as active there.

Finally, 851.125 and 854.4375 have been reported as active at T249 (Peoria Simulcast) and have been added to the RRDB.

T239 (which also appears to be a new SC21 Site, control channel of 852.9625) is reported as a neighbor to T245 (see above). T103 (Andover, Henry County) is shown in the RRDB with the same control channel. Coincidentally, Henry County is the first county north of Knox County (home to T145, possibly now T245).

Is anyone able to confirm that T103 is still on the air? If not found, does it appear that T239 might have taken its place?

Thanks for the information, Ron. I will add the frequencies to T126 in the Radio Reference database.

A handful of 100xx TGs carrying ISP traffic have been noted in the past. This information comes from the Radio Reference SC21 wiki page list of unknown TGs:
  • TG 10000 - affiliated by various ISP District 1 and 17 units and O-203 (T131, 2017, 2018)
  • TG 10001 - affiliated by various ISP Districts 16 and 17 units (T131, 2017, 2018)
  • TG 10002 - affiliated by ISP 17-38 (6/18)
  • TG 10003 - affiliated by ISP O-248 (T131, 5/31/18)
  • TG 10004 - key-up? T101, 9/16; key-ups? RIDs 1006410, 1006430 (D Chicago units?) T101 3/17; "Bluff Road" RID 1005662 (ISP 5-68?) Lemont? (T113 2/20/18)
  • TG 10007 - affiliated by various ISP Districts Chicago and 17 units (T131, 2017, 2018)
  • TG 10013 - affiliated by various ISP District 17 units (T131, 2017)
  • TG 10015 - patch logged here, unknown location or date
Can anyone shed additional light on these talkgroups?

Got the following from another listener this morning:

"It looks like there’s at least 1 more tower that has been renumbered – T113 (Will / Grundy) has a new neighbor of T248 with a CC of 853.43750. It’s missing a neighbor of T130 (Grant Park) with the same control channel".

Is there anyone near T130 in Grant Park (Kankakee County) that could determine whether T130 is still on the air, or has it been renumbered as T248?

Since it was a nice day for a drive, I went to Grant Park and confirmed that Site 130 is now Site 248. Site 129 (Bonfield) is no longer listed as a neighbor, but Site 154 (Dwight, control channel 852.050) is. 859.2625 (licensed to the Village of Bradley) and 859.7625 (licensed to the City of Kankakee) are active voice channels at Site 248. More changes yet to come with this becoming a simulcast site at some point.

I see a slew of D15 techs showing up daily now in the Kane site "event messages data". Also I heard TG 10004 today id as ISP District Chicago Dispatcher for an Ispern message. And suddenly TG 9099 D15 South Tollway is showing up on the McHenry site, it was never there before yesterday. TG 9098 D15 North was always on the McHenry site. But I want 'em both!

I think it was the ISP Chicago Dispatch traffic in regards to the ISPERN message, not the orig ISPERN itself. Time was late morning.

Ok...I was asking because the submission was for District 5, Dispatch C. Since District 5 is monitorable on the Cook County site, I was curious as I have it programmed but no traffic heard.

I have been hearing intermittent radio traffic on TG 8414. I am almost 100% sure it is a 'patch' as there is no UID shown. It also sounds very analog. That's another reason I believe it is a patch. I think I have narrowed it down to the Green Co area. I was able to hear Hwy 50 mentioned once or twice. Last time I checked the database 8414 was not in there. Anyone else heard this?

Here's what's shown for nearby TG 8418 from the list of unknown SC21 TGs in the SC21 wiki:

TG 8418 - T359, RID 795010, 795011 - Monroe County or Columbia units (12/21/14)

In Illinois, US Route 50 runs from the Mississippi River at Columbia (Monroe County) to the Wabash River near Vincennes, IN. It doesn't appear to run through Greene County. Illinois Route 50 runs north/south between West Kankakee and Skokie in the northeast part of the state. Of course you might be hearing reference to a county route 50 too.

Yes I have heard this too. I have a TG 8416 and 8418 and thought it was local but could not find it. I live in Monroe Co. and it doesn't sound like anything from around here. It does sound analog and I could not find that TG 8414 anywhere when I looked for it. It is a mystery to me also.

Looks like Tri-Com may be getting ready to switch over, Unitrunker has recorded hits on site 149 from the following, in addition to 11001 South Elgin PD:

11002
11003
11004
11005
11010
11011
11013
11015
11021
11024
11030
11033
11041
11044
11045
11048
11050
11054
11094

Most of these have just been new affiliations, mostly with a Motorola tech radio, but it looks like what voice traffic there has been has been a mix of Phase I and Phase II. I'm sure someone in range of the Kane County site would be able to tell more about some of these. The only new RID I've seen is 331009.

I go to Elgin IL every week. I'll have to set up a ZONE on my Unication G5 pager and listen. I hear South Elgin and was aware of a few others listed in RRef database as FOR South Elgin but haven't heard anything new when in Monitor mode on the Kane County Starcom21 SITE. I'll be checking. Thanks for the list. THREE of the Starcom21 Sites merge where I visit. Kane/DuPage/Cook

Looks like Elgin may have switched at least some of their talkgroups over to Phase II. Not sure how long this has been in place but I just noticed it tonight. No change in encryption or anything else. Doesn't look like it's in use on all of them but Unitrunker is showing TDMA on most of the main talkgroups.
