Visiting Clemson, and wondering if there's any update to the Talk Groups and Frequencies used on Game Day at Clemson for football?

Seems like all of the previous postings I found in a search were from over a decade ago.

Can you confirm if these VHF frequencies are analog, P25 or DMR?

These Palmetto 800 talk groups can also be heard on the Anderson site 853.1625 throughout most of northwestern SC into much of Greenville County. It has a wider range than the Clemson site.

Back in the day, think 159.090 was the input to 154.725 CUFD Ch. 1. The 155.205 was the secondary FD channel, then mostly used for Stadium/ Sports area EMS coordination for Football Games. Gametime Stadium-area medical dispatch was on 155.205 and other campus areas were EMS dispatched on 154.725. The Operations/CP folks at those games did an exemplary job; I am sure they still do.

Those are very dated observations.

An old Athletic Department frequency-460.950- has some type of digital traffic at times nowadays. Very strong around Jervey/Littlejohn/Fike area, as you would expect. In analog days this frequency was used for many events and they would also pass scores and informal traffic. Student employees insure creativity.

Perhaps someone can sleuth the mode used on 460.950.

Clemson University Littlejohn has some UHF/VHF frequencies licensed to them that have analog and DMR emissions, those are under this license:

https://www.radioreference.com/db/fcc/callsign/WQQH500

I haven't been able to log any activity on these just yet. Not sure which mode is being used, if these frequencies are in use at all.

From time to time, I do monitor the Clemson Fire/EMS VHF frequencies mentioned above as well.

"Littlejohn" is the basketball arena/facility, right? So you probably aren't likely to hear these during football games. Unless Littlejohn is just referring to the location of the transmitters, and not the intended use area. Littlejohn Coliseum is next to Death Valley, so maybe they are used for more than just basketball.

The repeater output frequencies (only 5 of them) are licensed for 50W output, so it's not going to be a super-strong signal. The majority of those frequencies are mobiles only. Still worthy of monitoring, though.

Brian,

I did a quick Google search and you are correct, it is the basketball arena. I agree it wouldn't be much help during football games, but perhaps useful to monitor when events are going on at Littlejohn Coliseum?

According to the FCC license, the transmitter address is at 219 Perimeter Road in Clemson which matches the address of the facility. The license does state that radios are used to “coordinate activities related to the Clemson University athletics.”

I'll try to monitor the 5 repeater frequencies during their next event to see if I hear any activity. I might be able to decode them with fair results given the 50w output. If not, no big deal maybe someone closer could possibly identify them later.

I’m always looking for new stuff to monitor and identify so that it can be added to the database which helps the RadioReference community!
