Here's the schedule for this year's Air Show ⤵️. Have you ever seen such an anemic list of performers from a Navy town such as Jax? I've been to shows at small regional airports with more action. Zero acrobatic acts, zero fighter jet demos, no warbirds? A far cry from previous years. Was it poor planning, lack of funds or lack of interest? I know the beach residents always make a big fuss about the noise, every time.

Anyway, definitely anticipating the Blue Angels and want to make their practice on Thursday. Anyone planning on going Thursday?

just a guess here, but there seems to be two types of airshows these days.

some are managed/produced by for-profit groups - and some (like the NAS Jax show) - are "free".

Again, I am postulating a bit here - but I would imagine that the for profit groups have to pay $$$ for those military demos and static displays (hotels, per diem, rental cars, and probably $ for JetA too) - and that adds up QUICK. that's why they charge admission for those shows.

the NAS JAX show has always been "free" as long as I can remember.... and I guess - simply put - you get what you pay for.

The P8 just seems like "lets just put something in the air to fill a timeslot". Nothing like watching a Boeing 737 fly past over and over lol.

I do like the P-8's high speed pass when the show is at the naval base because I have spots outside the base where it flies right over, but yeah it's a joke of an airshow compared to what we are used to here in Jax. I mean, can they swing a FANG flyby at some point during the weekend?! They're stationed right here at Jax Intl. and are flying all the time...

All whining aside, I'm glad the weather is cooperating this year. Feels like there's always a Nor'easter when the show is at beach.

This might sound like weird request, but are anyone able and willing to record the Blue Angels comms Sunday when they perform and send the files to me?
I was attending today, but managed to wipe all the sound files…

Sorry I couldn't help you, I only went out there Thursday. Plus I don't have a record capable scanner anymore since selling my TRX-1. Here's some photos from Thursday...
