Not a valid frequency in the US unless the military is playing around there. 42.96 MHz used to be a very active business band frequency. Back when the radio services were segregated, 42.96 and 43.00 MHz were the only Business Band assignments above 42 MHz. Lots of low band radios with the 42-50 MHz band split had to pick one channel or the other. Still more than a handful of dinosaur systems on those channels -- some operating on expired licenses. Those two frequencies used to be a lot of fun to DX. Hard to tell what you'd hear.
