Greetings: I have been testing various antennas on a mobile 2055 SS. Used all MAXRAD. Maxscan 1000 was good. 49" Long John whip was about the same. BUT when I installed a MDB150/450 dual band it just blowed me away. I usually just run banks 2 and 5 for VHF/UHF. The antenna is 2db gain on VHF and 3db Gain on UHF. I was 5 miles, [thats five miles] from our Mtn top 462.950 EMS repeater and it poped up loud and clear with full squelch. I found a new VHF federal downtown and LOTs of other stuff. I custom PGM all my own scanners including digital. This scanner is worth the price just for the SS feature. Just when you think that 800 digital is the upper limit of what equipment you need then something else comes along. Now I have a 97 and 2055. Best Regards to all.

If you like the SS feature of the Radio Shack scanners, you will LOVE the Close Call feature Uniden offers!

With Close Call you can still scan your normal frequencies and the scanner will check for for Close Call hits at the same time. Also it will display the CTCSS or DCS automatically, unlike SS.

Larry, do you have a link for these antennas?

I don't mind doing my own legwork but it doesn't hurt to ask, you might have it handy.

Thanks...

(yawning) Ahh, another day gone, see ya in da morning...

Yes the "close call" feature sound interesting. I am using the 2055 as a #2 scanner in my truck. The #1 is a BC-796d. I have an '89 F-150 Super Cab and it has a flat dash over the instrament panel. Coming down I-85 today I passed the GSP airport and caught FAA on 172.950. I have a PRO-2006 with a CSI Tone Finder as a base unit and the 2055 replaced a Regency 1600 with a TF-2 Tone Finder. I'll read up on the BC close call. Best Regards, Larry
