2096 / Multi-Site EDACS

As a long time Uniden user, I'm learning the ins and outs of my new 2096. I have a multi-county, multi-site EDACS system that I want to program: Central (VA) Planning District.

As a five-site system like this, do I need to program each site into it's own bank, and make sure that all of the TG's I want are in each bank? Or is this redundant, and I can program all 37 frequencies into one bank, with the associated TG's, and it will automatically find the nearest site and allow me to pick up all traffic on the system?

Just like the Uniden models, EDACS system frequencies must be LCN position. The only way you can put two or more sites in a single bank is if they do not share any LCN's. Very few systems have sites like this. Each frequency bank has it's own ID List, so yes, each bank used will have to have redundant TG lists. This is where using Win96 software can be pretty handy. I would not recommend using ScanCatLite on the Pro-96, it does not work properly. Remember, Uniden banks start with channel number 1 but GRE radios start with channel number 0 so when putting LCN's in, make sure that you match the LCN with correct channel number on the radio. (LCN 01 in x01, LCN 05 in x05, ect.) Remember there is no LCN 00.

OK, good, then my line of thinking was right!

But I have to use five banks!

I've got Don Starr's software, and it's great. Been using the web downloads, and that sure is a breeze. Off to download a whole lot more now!
