• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Ok I hear it daily, each time a cal goes out overthe local fire freq (33.940, Batavia Ohio) they will call out with a 23 omega one, or alpha 1 or something along those lines, not always the same, though some days they are.

Any idea as to what these are?

Or rather what they mean.

I do assume it wil be for my area only, but what is it to begin with?

Sounds like it is the Medical code for the type of call. I know in this area (salt lake county) there are codes from 1-32 and then add to it alpha-echo for the severety of the response.

Example: 29-Delta is a Auto accident requiring Bls, Als, Ambulance, Recue all to run code 3.

many thanks...my neighboring county's ems just switched to these....however they say priority 1-3 before signal so it sounds redundant
