Have only programmed my 246T with the Demo-Ware UASD.

Is it possible to directly enter a frequency with only the keypad and not have to also use the commands described on pages 53 & 54 of the Manual?

Not sure what page 53/54 is, but HOLD - FREQ - HOLD enters a frequency directly (but not into memory).

COOL!Thanks for posting that, I didn't realize that could be done, and I was really wanting to be able to do that.
Thanks!

How would I enter the frequency directly from the keypad into memory in one of the 2 groups I have in the 246T though?

With the 785D you can go to an empty channel, key in say 154.905 & hit enter & its in the Scanner. How is something like this be done in the 246T though--or, can it be done :?

=============
EDIT: Just looked at the site mentioned by dustin486, and it didn't have any info on what I'm looking for. To put it a slightly different way, I have the 246T with me, and someone says in effect, "Hey, put 151.460 in that and see if we can hear something" How would I do it AND enter the freq. into memory at same time.

Well, HOLD-FREQ-ENTER works to put it in the Quick Save system. If you want it elsewhere, answer NO when it asks if you want it in that system and it will ask you where you want to put it.

Well..., let's see; If I'm figuring this out correctly, the ONLY way to enter a freq. other than the computer is using hold - Freq - hold to do so with a frequency you have scanned upon then - but soon as the 246T is turned off it would be lost then since you can't store it in memory?

In other words the 246T does NOT allow you to enter something from the keypad like, say,

1 - 5 - 1 - . - 4 - 6 - 0

then give an Enter command, and store it in memory, and the Group you want, then??
==========================

Tried Directly entering a frequency into Group 2 by going Hold > 1-5-1-.-4 - 6 - 0

When I key in 1 the words Direct Entry appear, then when I get the entire freq. keyed in, and press NO, the words Direct Entry are at top of readout, with a __ on next line are only onscreen. Nothing at all about what system do I want to put it in.

If you want to directly enter a freq. into a group:

Hit HOLD, then enter the freq. you want with the keypad, then hit ENTER, it will say "QuickFreq. Save?", you then hit the NO button, and it will go to the "Select System" screen, scroll to the system you want the freq in,hit YES, then if there are groups in the system, it will show them. Just hit YES on the group/system you want, and it will be Saved into that Memory.

Sounds kinda complicated, but it is really simple once you do it a few times.

Did you press the ENTER key before replying NO?

Read the post immediately above yours again. (and a few more times)

You can use HOLD-FREQ-ENTER to enter a frequency OR enter it via the menu.
