246T Programming Problems!

This may sound dumb but I'm having problems entering frequencies for the trunked systems in my area. I've created a new system (motorola 800mhz standard) and when I go to enter the frequencies such as 851.5000, 853.4500, 856.4250 I get "out of band"...what am I doing wrong?All these frequencies are within the range of the scanner. I've programmed all the conventional frequencies in my area and the scanner is working great....any help would be appreciated!

Thanks! It accepts these frequencies now...I thought the systems in my area would fall under a "standard" system.

Any 800 MHz frequency that ends in .xxx0 has to be a splinter system.

Oh I didn't know that. I have several systems here in Western Washington that have _some_ frequencies (often the control channel) that end in 0. The systems, all programmed as standard, _seems_ to work Ok.

So, any frequency listed that has a trailing 0, thurns the entire 800MHz system setup to Splinter?

No, only if the frequencies are below 866 MHz. The band from 851.0125 - 865.9875 was allocated first and the spacing was 25 kHz. Later the FCC added 866 - 868.9875 but the spacing was 12.5 kHz. As conditions became crowded along the Mexican border those in-between channels in the 851.0125 - 865.9875 band were allocated as needed. They are the splinter channels. Most of the country does not use them.
