I have a brand new 246xlt. Nice little scanner great for just taking it around...
The unit works great on anything I throw at it, but EDACS. It will not hit any of the systems I try. I tried Halton, Burlington, Oakville, Metro EMS so far and nothing. I double checked the frequencies, the order, the settings. I tried AFS and Decimal, EDACS Wide/Narrow but still nothing!
Anyone else experience problems with this?

I tried my old 245xlt and it is working without problems?!

I'm here a lot
Your Logical Channel Numbers must be in order and you must be receiving the control channel .
I suspect you know this already as you have successfully monitored on your 245.

Try switching the BC 245- XLT antenna over to the BC246 T and see if things improve.
Maybe the antenna isn't that great on the 246.

I use the 246 mostly for EDACS and it works well. In conventional mode can you receive the control channel and is the signal strong?

I have troubles getting Toronto EMS on my 296. I get it great on my Pro 93 and pretty good on my 245.
The signal is generally good, occasionally pretty perfect here in midtown.

I have Toronto EMS (as well as several other EDACS systems) in my 246, and it works just fine.

lightsandsirens I have been having the same problem and cannot monitor Halton Region on my 246t. On my 796d or 245xt they come in loud and clear. I reprogrammed Halton 3x and rechecked the LCN are in order and all the freqs are in place. If anyone knows where to look please reply! Thanks!

Well it's good to know I'm not the only one! It's driving me crazy. I tried everything I can think of but no avail. The scanner will receive the control channel and voice when monitoring the frequencies, but nothing when the unit is in trunked mode...

Any ideas?

Problem Solved. My mistake. I am used to programming the old scanners where the order of the frequencies programmed equals the LCN order. In the case of the 246 you have to also program the frequency and the LCN order #. D'OH !!
But now it works great. I also had the Firmware upgraded to 2.05.01

246T_update

Enjoy!
